Originally from Barnum, the 2025 Education Minnesota Pequot Lakes Teacher of the Year grew up with her parents, Rich and Corina Newman, and was the oldest of her three siblings — Jessica, Justin and Brandon. Her father taught social studies in Barnum, with both parents active in coaching there.
