    Steamboat Springs baseball hosted its first home games of the season Friday, dropping a double header set to No. 13 ranked Summit. Despite a one-run lead through the second inning for the Sailors in game one, Summit’s offense overpowered, scoring 5, 9 and 6 runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, respectively. Summit won the game 21-6. Game two was much more of a pitcher’s duel with Sailors ace Fred Lohne taking the mound.

    Steamboat tennis sent its No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles players to the Class 3A State Championship tournament this week in Colorado Springs. It was an early exit for Steamboat’s No. 2 doubles team of Taylor Rockford and Vanessa Dorr, dropping its first round match 6-0, 6-3 to Eaton. Steamboat’s No. 1 doubles tandem of Leslie Jimenez and Lyla Baker, along with Abby del Haya (No. 2 singles), managed to win their first round matches to advance to the quarterfinal.

    It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Steamboat Springs girls lacrosse after the team graduated 15 seniors last season. Instead, the team has pulled off its best season ever, reaching the third round of the Class 4A playoff for the first time in program history. The No. 6 Sailors hosted No. 11 Dakota Ridge on Thursday at Gardner Field for round two. Despite a slow start, the girls managed a dominant 16-8 victory.

    The Steamboat Springs girls soccer team was proud to learn last weekend that they would host a first round playoff game. It’s something this varsity group hadn’t done, and they capitalized on the moment. The No. 16 Sailors welcomed No. 17 Englewood to Gardner Field on Thursday for the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. Steamboat dominated from start to finish, advancing to round two after a 5-0 victory.

    The Steamboat Soccer Club U18 boys team is entering uncharted territory, but the boys are constantly reminded to own their own journey. On Sunday, the boys were crowned Colorado Presidents Cup champions, becoming the first team to do so from the Steamboat Soccer Club in history. The Colorado Presidents Cup is open to teams who compete in the Colorado Soccer Association League.
