    Lincoln Police have released results of a traffic enforcement project that focused on dangerous driving in school zones. From May 1-15 LPD officers worked overtime hours patrolling during active school zone times. LPD says a total of 141 traffic stops were made and 168 citations issued. Officers wrote 107 speeding tickets and cited 13 people for not wearing seat belts. There were 22 no registration citations issued along with six for no insurance.

    The Nebraska State Patrol says they arrested a food service delivery driver in Lincoln Wednesday night for drunk driving. Patrol spokesperson Mikayla Hall tells KLIN News it happened Wednesday night near 9th and ‘N’ Streets. Hall says the 37-year-old door dash driver was making a delivery when the trooper saw him make a turn into the wrong lane and then failed to signal another turn. When the trooper spoke to the driver there was evidence that he had been drinking.

    Lincoln Planning Department Director David Cary will serve as the Interim Building and Safety Director. Mayor Lerion Gaylor Baird says Building and Safety Director Chad Blahak accepted a position last month at Olsson. Blahak’s last day with the City will be June 27. “David’s decades of experience supporting growth and development in Lincoln and Lancaster County make him the right choice to lead both departments during this transitional period,” Gaylor Baird says.

    The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department says they fielded more than 100 calls in ninety minutes Friday morning from frantic residents who received messages saying they missed jury duty. “An individual is calling from an unknown number and telling people that they have a warrant,” Houchin says. The voice sounds like artificial intelligence and claims to be a Lancaster County Sheriff’s lieutenant.
