A bill aimed at strengthening Nebraska’s protection order laws received first-round approval from lawmakers on Monday. Syracuse Sen. Bob Hallstrom introduce LB80, which would consolidate existing state laws regarding protective orders for domestic abuse, sexual assault and harassment into a single Protection Orders Act. Under the bill, protection orders could be issued initially for one or two years, depending on the evidence presented and the court’s discretion, and would be renewable.

Lincoln Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman who they say punched and kicked a man who was involved in a fight near 12th and ‘E’ Street last Wednesday night. LPD took Sarah Mangloack into custody Monday night and she was booked for first degree assault. Lincoln Police were sent to that location to investigate an assault. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says when officers arrived found two men lying in the street bleeding.

The Lincoln Airport will have an Easter theme for it’s first outdoor movie of the year on Friday. Director of Communications Rachel Barth tells KLIN News the movie Up! will be shown on the side of an old Cold War hangar at dark, but there will be plenty of activities leading up to it, including an Easter egg hunt.

Lincoln Police have arrested a woman in connection with the robbery and assault of a 17-year-old girl following a minor traffic accident on Saturday. 19-year-old Charlissa Lasley was booked into the Lancaster County Jail on Monday for robbery. LPD says the victim’s car collided with another vehicle around 7:00 p.m. near 21st and ‘K’ Streets. “She attempted to exchange information, but the driver demanded cash,” Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says.

A living legend will take the stage at the Lied Center for Performing Arts this weekend. Itzhak Perlman is a 16-time Grammy Award winner and the reigning virtuoso violinist. Perlman will perform Saturday night at 7:30, but Lied Center executive director Bill Stephan says the show will be different than his previous recitals.
