Photo shows pipe that broke and caused flood in Skokie, Illinois Images released Tuesday show the pipe at the center of the devastating leak in north suburban Skokie last month. On Friday, Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, video showed millions of gallons of water flooding out streets and creating icy yards. The flood also totaled cars and required emergency calls to the plumber. 2 injured in apartment fire on Chicago's Southwest Side CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were hurt in a fire in an apartment in the West Lawn neighborhood Monday. The fire broke out just after 11:30 a.m. in an apartment in the 1960s-era apartment building at 3941 W. 59th St., just east of Pulaski Road. Glass was broken on the second floor of the three-story building, where the fire broke out.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A migrant shelter at the at a former Super 8 motel in Rogers Park closed over the weekend, CBS News Chicago has learned. The shelter at the former motel, at 7300 N. Sheridan Rd. at Chase Avenue, had been in operation since July 2023. The motel opened in 1959 as the Sheridan-Chase Motel—a name it carried for decades before Super 8 took over.
