Artist Lyn Evans at work (Image: Supplied) An accomplished Threlkeld artist shared her talents recently with members of an art society. Keswick Society of Art met at the St Herbert’s Centre in High Hill, with Lyn Evans doing a demonstration of winter landscapes in pastel. "Lyn is an accomplished artist in the mediums of oil, watercolour and pastel, and her work may be found in local galleries and private homes both here and abroad," said a spokesman.

Cockermouth Civic Trust, which is 56 years old and describes itself as the town's "voluntary watchdog", recently announced it would close next October if new committee members were not found. Two members stepped down from the committee at the AGM in November.

Chris Bower, of Brigham, launched his annual Christmas Book and Toy Bank a few weeks ago. Items can still be donated.
