According to the Texas Game Wardens, Wednesday morning the Swiftwater Search and Rescue Team responded to a jobsite in Malakoff after two construction workers called for help. The construction workers were stranded due to rising floodwaters and made the decision to call for help rather than attempt to drive into the high water.

Darius Gates, 28, of Hallsville is accused in the 2023 shooting deaths of Keyan Jernigan and Duane Jernigan. Gates’ defense argues the shooting was done in self-defense as Gates feared for his life.

GLADEWATER, Texas (KLTV) - A Texas game warden and Gladewater police officers cooperated to remove a large alligator spotted downtown. With a lake in town and many antique stores, the City of Gladewater attracts a lot of visitors, but they could have done without the visitor they had Sunday night: a 9 1/2-foot alligator. Gregg County Game Warden Todd Long was notified around 10 p.m. that an alligator had been spotted near Tele’s restaurant on U.S. Highway 271.

GLADEWATER, Texas (KLTV) - A Texas game warden and Gladewater police officers cooperated to remove a large alligator spotted downtown. According to the Gladewater Police Department, a 9′2″ alligator was spotted in the 400 block of South Tyler Street of Gladewater Sunday night. Texas Game Warden Todd Long and several officers worked together to safely escort the animal back to its habitat in the Sabine River.
