    Langton Herring village hall (Image: Google) LANGTON Herring village hall has been given the go-ahead for 12 solar panels on its roof and a heat pump to the rear of the listed building. The panels, capable of producing 500W of energy, will be fitted to the rear, south-facing roof which the application says should not detract from the traditional character of the building.

The application to Dorset Council asks for a change of use from pub to restaurant and the conversion of an existing garage to create a larger kitchen for the Mr C Kharel trading as Everest 29032 Dorchester Restaurant.

    Dorset Council is being asked to approve the trailer’s use from the spring bank holiday until the end of August every year, for a period of five years. The application for planning consent comes from the National Trust regional office using an existing hardstanding area at the Trust’s car park. The organisation says it will use existing recycling bins within the car park for much of the waste generated by the trailer, with catering waste removed from the site every day.

Each of the sites is able to run camping without the need for full planning consent, using regulations which allows for temporary use for up to 50 pitches over a 60-day period, but still need the agreement over nature protections.
