Monkton Park (Image: Freelance) A SPECIAL education needs ‘inclusion hub’ for just four pupils has been agreed for the Monkton Park site on the southern edge of Dorchester. The site is home to the Dorchester Learning Centre which provides “education and support for all children who find themselves outside of mainstream school education.” The timber-clad building will be modular, constructed off-site, and then put together at Monkton Park to minimise disruption to pupils and staff.

SPECSAVERS in Dorchester is planning to move across the street to a new store. The business is asking to make changes to a listed building diagonally opposite its existing shop which was closed for several weeks in recent months because of a fire which started in the nearby Gorge Cafe. Specsavers say the move had been planned prior to the fire which disrupted the southern end of South Street and is not related to the decision.

Premier Inn Weymouth (Image: Freelance) THE PREMIER Inn in Weymouth has applied for a new licence for the sale of alcohol daily until half past midnight. The application comes as the business in Mercery Road prepares to take its catering operation in-house, using the previous stand-alone Beefeater restaurant to create an extra 36 rooms in addition to a new eating area for up to 80 customers.
