State senators Friday gave 43-0 first-round approval to a bill affecting insurance for real estate transferred after its owner’s death. Legislative Bill 422, sponsored by Sen. Tanya Storer of Whitman, advanced as part of a “consent calendar” agenda designed to allow for quick floor action on noncontroversial bills. Storer’s measure adjusts coverage periods for property insurance after the death of a property owner who filed a “transfer of death deed” transferring title to a designated new owner.
