According to officials, Akinyela Taylor, 49, attempted to hijack an airplane Thursday that was flying from a small town near Belize’s border to the popular tourist destination San Pedro, Mexico.

ST. LOUIS – A former McCluer North Football Coach was left dead Thursday after attempting to hijack a small plane in Belize. According to officials, Akinyela Taylor, 49, attempted to hijack an airplane Thursday that was flying from a small town near Belize’s border to the popular tourist destination San Pedro, Mexico. The plane was carrying 14 passengers and two crew members when it was hijacked.

ST. LOUIS – A wrestling coach and a standout wrestler from Southern Illinois returned home with gold medals after competing in a world championship tournament in Serbia. Sarah Doty, a coach at the Edwardsville Wrestling Club, led the team to success overseas, where they won a total of five gold medals, one silver, and four bronze at the AAU ISF Fifteen and Under Tournament in April.
