DuBOIS — After previously experiencing a decade drought in the PIAA playoffs, the St. Marys Lady Dutch softball team punched its ticket to the dance for the second straight year Thursday. They did so in dominating fashion with an 11-1 win in six innings over District 10 runner-up Northwestern at Heindl Field in the District 9/10 Class 3A subregional final.

IRVONA — Antique car enthusiasts and vehicle owners will make the annual trek to Elderberry Park, 5 Railroad St., Irvona on Sunday for the 45th annual Chicken BBQ and Car Show, sponsored by the Irvona Volunteer Fire Company. Sunday's event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, as committee secretary Terry Whetstone said Irvona Borough swells to several hundred, if not thousands, during the event.
