    EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - East Providence businesses affected by the Washington Bridge closure will be getting financial assistance later this month. The aid comes in the form of $1.2 million in grant funding allocated to the city. Eligible businesses that applied for help will be able to get up to $10,000 from each. "We have 111 eligible and qualified businesses," Mayor Bob DaSilva told 12 News on Saturday.

    NEW BEDFORD, R.I. (WPRI) - The city of New Bedford is offering two hours of free parking at the Elm Street Garage and the Zeiterion Garage with its Holiday Parking Program this month. There will also be two hours of free parking at the meters along Acushnet Avenue in the city's North End. The goal of the program is to try and get people to shop locally. "I would challenge people, before they click on amazon, think creatively about gift giving this year," New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell said.
