HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. — Due to financial challenges, three local funeral homes have closed, leaving Humboldt County residents with only a few funeral homes to choose from. The closures include the Sanders Funeral Home, Humboldt Cremation & Funeral Service in Eureka, and Paul’s Chapel in Arcata. Owner Guy Saxton, who is located in Pennsylvania, briefly spoke with KRCR about the closures, stating that the funereal homes are losing money due to families choosing cremations over traditional funerals.
