Hundreds of people popped by the historic Wanamaker building to say goodbye to the department store and its iconic features. The Center City Macy's opened in 2006. In January, the company announced the store was one of 66 being shuttered. Most products were already stripped from the shelves, as everything must go - everything.

    PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - Powerful storms slammed the Philadelphia region on Wednesday with plenty of heavy rain and strong winds. The severe weather affected planes, trains and cars, and knocked out power in some areas. High wind gusts out by Philadelphia International Airport clocked in at over 50 miles per hour, while in New Jersey and most of Pennsylvania, peak speeds were in the 40s. Earlier threats of thunderstorms prompted an FAA-issued ground stop for flights due for PHL.

    KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) - An unvaccinated child in Montgomery County has contracted the measles - the first confirmed case in the region and Pennsylvania this year. The child contracted the highly contagious virus while on an international trip and returned to the area last week, according to the Montgomery County Office of Public Health.

(KYW Newsradio) - Firefighters from 68 companies, mostly volunteers, worked for more than 12 hours through Monday night to beat back a fire at the massive SPS Technologies building in Jenkintown. A shelter-in-place is in effect for neighbors within a one-mile radius, and township and borough emergency officials heightened the alert, for residents within five blocks of the site, to a voluntary evacuation advisory.
