In a showdown between the only two high school baseball state champions in Montana history, Polson prevailed 8-2 over Florence on Thursday afternoon in Missoula. The contest was one of the premiere matchups to keep an eye on at this year's third annual PaddleHeads High School Baseball Showcase in Missoula, featuring 14 different teams from across western Montana playing 14 total games over a three day span at Ogren Park.

Former Montana State women's basketball standout Marah Dykstra has landed at Michigan State for her next hardwoods home. She announced her commitment to the Spartans via an Instagram post on Wednesday. Dykstra was a first-team all conference player this past season as a sophomore, starting in every game for the Bobcats while averaging 12 points per contest. Her buzzer-beating putback in the Big Sky Tournament championship game delivered Montana State's appearance to this year's NCAA Tournament.

The Montana women's basketball team recently made a pair of additions from the transfer portal to bolster their roster for the 2025-2026 season. On Saturday the Lady Griz received a commitment from Kennedy Gillette, a junior transfer from the College of Southern Idaho. Gillette, a 6-foot guard from Rexburg, Idaho, led her team in scoring (13.9 PPG) and made threes (52) last season as a sophomore. Gillette was honored as a third team NJCAA All-American.
