The battle is on for Omaha City Council District 2. The race narrowed down to just former city councilman Ben Gray and the executive director for The North 24th Street Business Improvement District, LaVonya Goodwin. The two advanced to the primary with Gray taking the lead with more than 1,700 votes. Goodwin beat out incumbent city councilwoman Juanita Johnson by just 27 votes. Both candidates are full steam ahead with their own plans to improve District 2.

Nebraska State Auditor Mike Foley said he's surprised about the amount of money the state has spent to rent commercial spaces. Foley said it has gone up several million in the past five years. He added this is timely due to the Nebraska Legislature discussing the state's budget. In Foley's letter, it shows that Nebraska is renting about 1.5 million square feet of office space and is spending almost $22 million for rent annually.
