An infrastructure failure at a construction site along Front Street in downtown Ventura caused the ground of neighboring properties to cave in May 29. The Ventura Police Department responded to the 900 block of Front Street around 10:48 a.m. after receiving a call that a sinkhole had appeared at a nearby commercial business, police Cmdr. Ryan Weeks said.
