    Wesley Laurendine was officially introduced as the Brother Martin head basketball coach. Laurendine led the Eagles to the LHSAA state semifinals in the last four seasons, including a Division II State championship this year. Laurendine looks forward to bringing that same mentality and work ethic to the Crusaders. “That takes a while. That’s what I want to make sure everybody understands is that to get that mindset and understand how hard that is, to get there year in and year out”, says Laurendine.

    Despite a second-half spark from No. 11 Southeastern, No. 6 Xavier cruises in a 77-59 victory. The Gold Nuggets were led to their win by Kam Shelly who posted a 22 point performance, followed by Janiya Reed with 16. Southeastern edged Xavier in the third quarter, 19-17, but big plays down the stretch from Shelly, Reed and Lauren Banks allowed them to steer towards a win. “It’s a game of runs,” says head coach Bo Browder.

    No. 1 Archbishop Shaw punches ticket to LHSAA Division II semifinals after defeating David Thibodaux, 70-41. The Eagles held the Bulldogs to tying their third lowest scoring game on the year. Shaw was led to success by Kobe Butler and Christian Clair who combined for 27 points. The Eagles had four double-digit scorers. Here are highlights featured on WGNO’s Friday Night Sports.
