THOMASVILLE - Thomas County Central topped Jackson County on Friday to move on to the second round of the state playoffs. The Lady Jackets sent the Lady Panthers packing in just two games, though the series was not without its drama. Thomas County Central took an early lead in game one after one run was sent in on a hit-by -pitch and a second was walked in. That lead wouldn’t last long, however, as Jackson got the bats going in the middle innings.

THOMASVILLE - After a stellar season and an incredible win streak, the Thomasville Lady Bulldogs lost in three sets to Pepperell in the second round of the state playoffs. The Lady Dragons had to take down a tough Thomasville group, who put up a good fight. The Lady Bulldogs put up 16, 13, and 12 points in each of the three sets. Pepperell’s star Hannah Smith had 12 kills in the match and two aces.

THOMASVILLE - It was complete and total domination on Friday night in Thomasville as the Bulldogs obliterated Brantley County in a 62-0 region win. Thomasville started early and hot as Cam Hill hit Si Wilson for a 61-yard passing touchdown. Kayden Walker made his presence known on special teams as, on the ensuing kickoff, he stripped the ball and gave possession back to the Bulldogs.

THOMASVILLE - Thomasville secured its spot in the second round of the state volleyball tournament after sweeping the Lady Eagles of Mitchell County. THOMASVILLE - It was a phenomenal weekend for Thomasville locals as they hit the gridiron across the nation for college football’s week seven. Starting with the Bulldogs, several players got playing time, including Jimmy Dawson in Albany State’s loss to Miles College, Cole Shaw in Mercer’s 27-point win over Princeton, and Jay Randall in Union’s 21-0 win over St. Andrews. Kam Bradshaw and Logan Thomas also saw the field in Union’s shutout victory.

CAIRO - The Syrupmakers will be looking to make it six wins in a row on Friday night as they welcome Dougherty to Cairo. While Cairo is expected to win this game over the 2-5 Trojans, this region matchup does have some high stakes in the region. The Syrupmakers are currently tied for first in the region with Peach County as both hold a region record of 2-0. Peach County will almost assuredly beat Bainbridge this week and enter next week's contest at 3-0 in region play.

THOMASVILLE - The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets will be looking to break away from .500 as they travel to Northside for their third region game of the year. Central will face an Eagles team that is down this year, going 2-5 overall and coming off of three bad losses. In the last three weeks Northside has given up no less than 41 points, they’ve lost their last three games a combined 154-29, and are coming off a 41-point loss to Houston County.

THOMASVILLE - The Thomasville Bulldogs will host the Brantley County Herons in an effort to increase their region record to 4-1. The Bulldogs are coming off an excellent victory over region rival Fitzgerald, but for head coach Jonathan DeLay it’s back to that 1-0 mentality. A bounce-back win on Friday night was great, but now it’s time to take care of the Herons. “It’s like I told the kids,” DeLay said.

THOMASVILLE - The Thomasville volleyball team is set to host their first-round state playoff matchup against Mitchell County. “We are excited,” said Thomasville head volleyball coach Jackie King. “I’m super excited and just can’t wait to light a fire under them because I feel like we are so capable of going far.”Thomasville got a very good draw for the first round of the playoffs. They face Mitchell County, a team that the Lady Bulldogs beat just two weeks ago in the regular season.
