British holidaymakers planning a trip to Greece this year will face higher costs as the country increases a fee designed to protect its citizens from climate disasters. The Climate Resilience Fee, which was introduced in January to fund eco-friendly initiatives, has seen an increase, with charges now reaching up to £12.66 per room per night during the peak holiday season. The fee will see a rise between April and October, affecting hotel stays and villa rentals across the country.

Figures from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have shown that more than 1.6 million people were receiving Attendance Allowance by the end of May 2024. However, many older people are still not claiming the benefit – which could be worth up to £108 a week. First-time applicants should be aware of updated guidance on GOV.UK. It said that a new online service will process only "a limited number of applications" each week.
