CHICAGO (CBS) — Ernest Dawkins and a slew of outstanding homegrown musical talent take the stage this weekend for the silver anniversary of the Englewood Jazz Festival, and the event's creator has a lot to celebrate. "It's cool. It's very rewarding. It's very exciting," Dawkins said, whose event is nestled in a lush, shady park where, for years, people have been bringing their lawn chairs to enjoy great jazz. Dawkins, a Chicago composer and saxophonist, started the festival with a grant.

CHICAGO (CBS) — The Chicago Jazz Festival is back, and among this year's headliners are jazz master Amina Claudine Myers, Charlie Sepúlveda, Kenny Garrett and Sounds From The Ancestors, and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. Thursday's performances are at the Chicago Cultural Center. Myers' performance Thursday night starts at 7:00, and then, Friday through Sunday, other artists will perform at Millennium Park.

Brookfield Zoo Chicago welcomes American flamingo chicks CHICAGO (CBS) — Brookfield Zoo Chicago welcomes new additions to its flock with four American flamingo chicks who've recently hatched at the zoo. Two birds hatched on July 26, one on July 28, and the last on August 7. Flamingos are born with gray feathers that eventually turn pink as they age and after a hefty shrimp diet.

Chicago's Music Box closed for repairs CHICAGO (CBS)—Starting Monday, Chicago's nearly centuries-old Music Box Theatre will undergo a refresh as the main auditorium will be closed for repairs and upgrades. As part of its "Revive at 95 " project, the theater is getting new seats with cup holders and rehabilitating the lights and floors. The Music Box announced its plans back in June.
