Much-needed rainfall in Lincoln on Sunday and Monday may have helped put a dent in stubborn drought conditions, but the city still lags behind normal precipitation for the year. From Sunday evening through Monday, Lincoln saw 2.29 inches of rain, 1.31 of which came Monday when severe storms swept through eastern Nebraska, according to the National Weather Service. May has felt more like summer than spring in Lincoln so far this year, but a relative cooldown is expected to bring some relief. So far, May has been 3.6 degrees warmer than average, according to Taylor Nicolaisen, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Valley. Lincoln has touched at least 80 degrees each day since May 8, including highs of 90 degrees on Wednesday and last Saturday. The average temperature for Lincoln on May 14 is 74 degrees. "It has been toasty," Nicolaisen said.
