Boston Standard
Boston Standard, formerly known as Lincolnshire Standard, is a weekly newspaper located in Boston, Lincolnshire. Its primary competitor is the Boston Target, another weekly publication owned by Local World. The newspaper is currently under the ownership of Johnston Press and was established in the 19th Century. For many years, it has served as the primary source of news for the Boston community, although the Boston Target also holds a significant presence in the region.

A memorial rugby match has taken place in Skegness in memory of a local player who lost his battle with cancer. Nick Morgan was diagnosed in January 2022 with stage four terminal oesophageal cancer and given six to nine months. In spite of battlng ‘amazingly well’, he sadly died on October 2024 at the age of only 44.

Survey works will begin soon for Anglian Water’s plans for a major new reservoir in Lincolnshire. The scheme would require flooding five square kilometres near Scredington, close to Sleaford, at the loss of at least 15 homes and farms. Anglian Water is hoping to submit the Lincolnshire Reservoir application in 2028, with construction starting around 2031 if it’s approved. The surveys are being carried out to gather information about the land and its environment to influence the designs.

Lincolnshire County Council spent nearly £1m housing children in unregistered care homes last year due to a “national shortage” in spaces. Watchdog Ofsted says this is illegal, although many councils across the country are resorting to the measure in order to meet demand. The authority says that the children were safe and visited weekly by social workers.
