    A 70-year-old local man who was involved in a single-vehicle collision on Scarborough’s East Pier on May 8 has died. The man had been in a critical condition in hospital since being recovered from the sea in a rescue operation involving the coastguard, lifeboat, fire and rescue, ambulance and the police. The white Mini Cooper car he was driving left the pier, overturned, and became submerged in the water. He passed away on Monday (May 12) evening in the presence of his family.

    North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information about a burglary that occurred near Hunmanby station. The incident occurred between 10am on Saturday May 10 and 8.20am the next day on Bridlington Road. A Mariner 55 EL boat engine was stolen from a property.     North Yorkshire Police have issued this CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to following an assault in Malton. The incident occurred at approximately 12:20pm on April 12, between Malton and Great Habton. Anyone who recognises the man pictured on CCTV is advised to contact north Yorkshire Police, as he may have information that will assist their investigation.     An update has been issued by North Yorkshire Police in regards to the discovery of a suspected WW2 bomb in Flaxton, near Malton. A 100m safety cordon was placed around an address on Main Street, Flaxton. The bomb was found in an outbuilding undergoing renovation. Nearby roads were temporarily closed, including York Lane, Bull Moor Lane, Rice Lane, Scotsman Road and Lords Moor Lane.
