    The Brown County Council held readings on two ordinances at their meeting Monday night, May 19. Council Members Judy Swift-Powdrill and Scott Rudd were not present for the meeting. The first ordinance was for the innkeepers’ tax. The state now allows counties to increase their innkeeper tax to a maximum of 8 percent. Brown County’s currently stands at 5 percent. A first reading was held on the ordinance that bumps the county’s tax up to that 8 percent maximum.
