    The Brown County Music Center (BCMC) is pleased to announce a gift of $74,780.21 to the community. The county will receive $18,695.05, and a PILOT payment of $55,000. The Brown County Community Foundation will receive $56,085.16. Because of the forward-thinking management agreements BCMC chose to implement, the Brown County Auditor and the Brown County Community Foundation (BCCF) will receive a portion of the excess revenue from the music center.

Each year the BCCF Grants committee devotes many hours reviewing applications and interviewing organizations. This year BCCF received 41 applications seeking a total of $557,163.

    Last week was an eventful time for six local women who trekked to Mountain View, Ark. to attend the 2025 Arkansas Regional Mountain Dulcimer Competition. Making the trip were Bev Bonsett, Paula Hartz, Melinda McMillan, Allison O’Shea, Jenny Austin and Nancy Leffler. O’Shea emerged as the winner in the solo competition and took home a new McSpadden mountain dulcimer, built by craftsmen at The Dulcimer Shoppe, in Mountain View.
