    LOGAN — A 23-year-old man has admitted to his role in a family dispute in May that led to his arrest. Austin Tayvan Long accepted a plea deal that allowed him to avoid any further jail time. According to court records, Long appeared June 23 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He pleaded guilty to aggravated child abuse, a second-degree felony; aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance within a correctional facility, both , third-degree felonies.

    FRANKLIN- Idaho Days celebration began Thursday, June 26 and goes until Saturday, June 28.  Jo Samia, coordinator for Idaho Days, said the three days of celebration has something for everyone. The Lion’s Club hamburger stand throughout Idaho Days.  On Friday June 27 they will hold two activities for children from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Farm Bureau will sponsor the Kids corner with activities for children. Following the Kids Corner there will be a Bike/Scooter Parade down Main Street.

    LOGAN — A 33-year-old Logan man has confessed to sexually abusing a young girl in Lewiston several years ago. Omar Vega-Perez has been in the Cache County Jail since being arrested in April. Vega-Perez appeared June 23 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to an amended count of attempted sexual abuse of a child, a third-degree felony. A second charge was dismissed.

    BOX ELDER COUNTY — A fast-moving wildfire that threatened homes on the Cache and Box Elder County line is now 100 percent contained. According to Utah Fire Info, the Beaver Dam Fire was reported near Collinston just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Initial reports were alarming, with the fire estimated at 100 acres and flames burning within 75 yards of structures. However, fire crews launched an aggressive attack, quickly halting the fire's forward progression.
