CILT-FM, operating at 96.7 FM and known as Mix 96, is a radio station that offers a hot adult contemporary and classic hits format, much like CKNO-FM in Edmonton. Located in Steinbach, Manitoba, it caters to listeners in southeastern Manitoba, including areas as far as Winnipeg. The station started its journey in 1998, initially broadcasting an adult contemporary format under the name Lite 96.7. Today, it is owned by Golden West Broadcasting and, as of 2006, has transitioned to a mix of adult contemporary and variety hits, rebranding itself as MIX 96.

    Police have recovered the bodies of two adults, believed to have died as the result of wildfires in the Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet. On Wednesday at approximately 9:15 am, Lac du Bonnet RCMP recovered two bodies, believed to be an adult male and adult female, just off Wendigo Road. It is believed that both adults succumbed to injuries sustained in the wildfire. RCMP were made aware on Tuesday that these individuals were trapped in the fire.

    Manitoba is broadening eligibility for the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. This comes as the result of the number of measles cases continuing to rise in our province. Vaccine eligibility now includes infants from six months to under 12 months of age, living in Southern Health-Sante Sud and the Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority.

    A home near Grunthal was torched by flames on Tuesday. Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says his crews were called out at 5:20 pm to a structure fire 1.5 miles southeast of Grunthal. He notes firefighters arrived to find flames coming through the roof. "The structure was fully involved," he says. According to Wiebe, the homeowner was able to safely vacate the home, along with a dog. He notes there were no injuries. "Quite a stubborn fire though," says Wiebe.

    A man from Zhoda has been arrested for impaired driving following a crash over the weekend that resulted in one person being flown to hospital. On Saturday, shortly after midnight, Emerson RCMP responded to a side-by-side rollover in the Rural Municipality of Stuartburn. Officers responded immediately along with Emergency Medical Services and the local fire department. Police say the passenger of the side-by-side, a 19-year-old male from the RM of St. Andrews was ejected.
