BATAVIA, ILL. — Discount grocery chain Aldi US named chief operating officer Atty McGrath its new chief executive officer, with the promotion of 10-year CEO Jason Hart to group COO on the executive board of parent company Aldi South. Plans call for McGrath to take over Aldi US CEO duties on Sept. 1, when Hart is slated to begin his new role overseeing Aldi’s global operations in Salzburg, Austria. Both executives have spent their entire grocery industry careers at Aldi.

So concludes a new series of state-of-the-industry reports from the Good Food Institute (GFI). The nonprofit think tank examined three areas within the alternative protein sector — plant-based, cultivated and fermentation-enabled proteins — and looked into the state of public investment in its State of Global Policy report.

BOONE, IOWA -- Daisy Brand officially broke ground on a new $676 million dairy processing facility in Boone, Iowa, on May 20, marking the company’s largest expansion to date. The 750,000-sq-ft plant will focus on producing sour cream and cottage cheese, aiming to meet growing consumer demand for these products. The facility is expected to create 255 jobs and will source milk from 43,000 cows daily, according to a local news station.
