A journalist has returned to her home patch in a new BBC role. Elaine Mitchell has started a new role as the corporation’s district reporter for Fermanagh, where she grew up. Elaine, pictured, has spent 22 years with the BBC, working in various reporting jobs around Northern Ireland, as well as technical and production roles. Elaine told the Fermanagh Herald she is especially looking forward to reporting on farming, a previous specialism of hers.
Oxford Mail court reporter to run London Marathon for Cats Protection

A court reporter is set to run the London Marathon in aid of a cat charity. Oxford Mail court and crime reporter Gee Harland will undertake the challenge this Sunday in aid of Cats Protection. Having set a target of £500, Gee has so far raised £380 in sponsorship for the cause. She was inspired to raise money for the charity because she owns two cats, Pucca and Bear. A long-standing chief reporter has landed a new daily business editor role – taking on a new byline in the process. Beverly Rademacher, pictured, has spent just over 25 years at the Stourbridge News where she worked under her previous name, Bev Holder. Now Beverley is moving to a new role as business editor of the Express and Star, where she will be using her married name.
Scotsman journalist Bill Chisholm MBE dies aged 80

A journalist who was awarded the MBE for his work has died aged 80. Tributes have been paid to Bill Chisholm, who covered the Scottish Borders region for more than 50 years. Bill, pictured, began at Smith freelance news agency, in Berwick-upon-Tweed, later moving to the Berwick Advertiser, Kelso Chronicle and then, in 1967, The Scotsman.
Three hyperlocal journalists make Foot award longlist

Three hyperlocal journalists are among the ten longlisted entries for one of the most prestigious prizes in journalism. Private Eye has announced the list of contenders for the 2025 Paul Foot Award for Investigative and Campaigning Journalism, which aims to highlight stories exposing corruption, governmental errors and miscarriages of justice. A former local news chief who also launched a monthly golfing magazine has sold the title to new owners. Danny Lockwood, publisher of The Press in Dewsbury until its closure during the Covid pandemic, launched Yorkshire Golfer magazine together with Mark Flanagan in 2008. Danny took sole ownership in 2013 but has now sold the title to Northumberland-based Offstone Publishing, which owns Northern Golfer magazine.

The shortlists for the Publisher Podcast Awards have been unveiled with the ceremony to take place in London in June. KentOnline launches campaign to widen Blue Badge access

A county news website has launched a campaign to change the rules around who is entitled to a blue badge. KentOnline says many cancer sufferers and other with life-altering conditions have been denied the parking permits. Now it has joined forces with three of the county’s MPs to call on ministers to look into how people are given the badges. It launched its Blue Badge Battle campaign after featuring numerous stories of people whose applications for the permits were turned down.
Glasgow Herald journalist named Energy Action Scotland 'hero'

Martin Williams, senior news reporter at Glasgow-based daily The Herald, has been recognised with the title by Energy Action Scotland. The award comes after Martin, pictured, wrote a story about how hundreds of thousands of homes that are not fit for human habitation.
