    A journalist has returned to her home patch in a new BBC role. Elaine Mitchell has started a new role as the corporation’s district reporter for Fermanagh, where she grew up. Elaine, pictured, has spent 22 years with the BBC, working in various reporting jobs around Northern Ireland, as well as technical and production roles. Elaine told the Fermanagh Herald she is especially looking forward to reporting on farming, a previous specialism of hers.

    A court reporter is set to run the London Marathon in aid of a cat charity. Oxford Mail court and crime reporter Gee Harland will undertake the challenge this Sunday in aid of Cats Protection. Having set a target of £500, Gee has so far raised £380 in sponsorship for the cause. She was inspired to raise money for the charity because she owns two cats, Pucca and Bear. Gee, pictured, told the Mail: “I was lucky enough to be allocated a ballot space for the marathon. “It felt like winning the lottery.

Beverly Rademacher, pictured, has spent just over 25 years at the Stourbridge News where she worked under her previous name, Bev Holder. Now Beverley is moving to a new role as business editor of the Express and Star, where she will be using her married name.

    A journalist who was awarded the MBE for his work has died aged 80. Tributes have been paid to Bill Chisholm, who covered the Scottish Borders region for more than 50 years. Bill, pictured, began at Smith freelance news agency, in Berwick-upon-Tweed, later moving to the Berwick Advertiser, Kelso Chronicle and then, in 1967, The Scotsman.

    Three hyperlocal journalists are among the ten longlisted entries for one of the most prestigious prizes in journalism. Private Eye has announced the list of contenders for the 2025 Paul Foot Award for Investigative and Campaigning Journalism, which aims to highlight stories exposing corruption, governmental errors and miscarriages of justice. Among those on the list are two Mill Media journalists, Abi Whistance of the Liverpool Post and Jack Dulhanty and the team from the Manchester Mill.
