Randolph Rockets senior pitcher Carter Raymond is the reigning Gatorade Softball Player of the Year in Minnesota. A great crowd in Randolph Saturday got to see first hand why. Raymond fanned 17 LaCrescent batters in a 7-0 win in the morning. Then achieved 13 strikeouts in the afternoon against neighbors Cannon Falls in a 1-0 victory. Friday night Raymond became the 6th player to hit the 1,000 strikeout milestone in state history in a 6-2 win over #5 rated Caledonia.

The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals dropped more in the polls despite not losing. The Cardinals three losses this season have been against the top ranked Class A and Class AA teams (United South Central, Randolph and Kenyon-Wanamingo, all fellow members of the Gopher Conference.

Wilson struck out 11 Cobras while throwing 71 pitches. 55 strikes and did not walk a batter. Wilson was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. The Cardinals collected 17 hits in the game, 7 of them in the third inning when they jumped to a 6-0 lead.

Randolph rolled over New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 14-0 in another Gopher Confeerence contest in New Richland. Cardinals Morgan Wilson, pitcher, senior allowed just 3 hits, walked nobody and struck out 12 batters while throwing 89 pitches, 64 strikes. The top of the order for Bethlehem Academy.

The victory improved the Rockets to 11-0, the Vikings fell to 4-4. Both teams were undefeated in Gopher Conference action prior to their meeting at Silk Field in Randolph. Carter Raymond, senior pitcher, 2024 Gatorade Player of Year in Minnesota allowed no hits against a Hayfield team that came into the game with a team batting average of .337.

The latest Minnesota Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association rankings are out. In Class A Faribault Bethlehem Academy moved up a notch due to a close game with Class 2A top rated Randolph last week. Fellow Gopher Conference member United South Central is still atop the smallest schools in the state. Randolph is undefeated and still atop the Class AA rankings. Fellow Section 1 opponents Caledonia and Chatfield are rated #5 and #9 respectively.
