Mostly sunny and warm conditions Tuesday afternoon will give way to scattered thunderstorms Tuesday night across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. An active pattern will ensue, with numerous chances for showers and storms through the middle and later half of the work week. A 30% chance of isolated t-storms will develop after 5 PM Tuesday, with chances increasing to 40% overnight. Most thunderstorms will be garden variety, with a marginal risk for isolated pockets of hail and damaging winds.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Spring tornado season started out with a bang for parts of the Midwest and deep South this year. From January to early April, the Storm Prediction Center has tallied at least 473 preliminary tornado reports across the United States. That’s well above the historical average of 266 twisters through this point in the season.
