Three new donation commitments totalling $350,000 mean a fundraiser to establish the Southern Alberta Cardiac Centre of Excellence has reached about a third of its goal. Campaign manager Jordan Cleland said Wednesday about $10 million has been raised one third of the way through the self-imposed 30 month deadline to get the centre established.

Bill 53, Compassionate Intervention Act, if passed, will give a way for treatment or care plans to be requested by family members, health care professionals, guardians, police/peace officers for individuals with severe addictions.

The province led Canada from January through March, according to the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation. Alberta, with less than 13 per cent of Canada’s population, led the country with more than 25 per cent of all housing starts through the first three months of 2025.
