    SEINE RIVER FIRST NATION – Treat Three Police Service officers have charged two women with assault, after a May 31 knife incident in the Northwestern Ontario community of Seine River First Nation. Police, in a release, said they arrived on scene to find an injured individual who had to be transported to hospital by emergency medical services. The victim was later released.

    DRYDEN – OPP in Dryden say they are part of an active investigation scene in the area of Duke Street and Memorial Avenue. As a result of the investigation, the Duke Street overpass will be closed for the time being, according to a post on the OPP North West Region’s Facebook page. Motorists and pedestrians are being asked to use the King Street underpass instead. No details of what’s being investigated have been made public.

    WABAUSKANG FIRST NATION – Reports of a stolen, community owned vessel on Waubaskang Lake, led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man on theft and impaired charges. Treaty Three Police, in a release issued on Thursday, said the incident occurred on May 27, with witnesses reporting the accused allegedly had taken to jerry cans of gasoline from a private residence and used them to operate the vessel without authorization.

    NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO — The OPP reported a increase of just over 10 per cent in calls were made to police in Northwestern Ontario. During last week's reporting period, from May 19 to 25, police logged 1,720 incidents for detachments in Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, and Rainy River, compared to the previous week. Across all five detachments, there were 415 charges, including both criminal charges  and incidents under the Highway Traffic Act.
