    South Bruce OPP say a teen from Arran-Elderslie is facing charges following a break and enter. On June 20 around 9 a.m., officers received a report of a break and enter at a property along Bruce Road 17 in Arran-Elderslie. Police say when officers arrived on the scene, they found the property had been entered and several bottles of alcohol were taken. The suspect was still on the scene when police arrived and was placed under arrest without incident.

    The United Way of Bruce Grey raised over $131,000 from its annual Coldest Night of the Year walks earlier this year. In February, the organization held walks in Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Meaford and Grey Highlands. Despite the five kilometre walk being cancelled as a result of extreme cold weather, participants were able to walk two kilometres in support of people facing homelessness, food insecurity, and poverty.

    The City of Owen Sound is launching a new online and smartphone tool to assist residents sort their waste and use the new green bin program. The new What Goes Where tool on the city website can identify how certain materials, like styrofoam, can be disposed off, which also includes drop-off locations and collection requirements. Additionally, the smartphone app Recycle Coach is available for download to show where various household waste items can be disposed off.

    Arran-Elderslie says it’s making it easier to access its public pools this summer. The municipality is introducing one free public swim per week at the Chesley Community Pool and the Tara Rotary Pool. It’s also launching of a season pool pass sign-out program through the Paisley Library. Beginning this summer, free public swims will be offered Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Chesley, and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Tara.
