So, there's a bit less ground to cover this evening, as I'm not trying to cram three-plus days' worth of litigation news into one column, but that doesn't mean Tuesday was completely uneventful. There was another Supreme Court decision handed down in the case of Monsalvo Velazquez v. Bondi. This one also has to do with immigration, but I think some folks are reading too much into it.

The 9th Circuit has a (well-earned) reputation for being, well, rather liberal (if not outright leftist) in its leanings. In fact, over the past two decades, the circuit, which encompasses Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington, as well as Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, has far and away been the circuit reversed the most by the Supreme Court.

I offered my apologies in Thursday's Evening Docket installment for being off/out of town for most of Friday and over the weekend. Apparently, the courts did not get the memo, because they were busy beavers all weekend long, and just trying to catch up on all that has transpired over the past 72 hours has been quite a challenge.

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was front and center for much of the government overreach, particularly when it came to his must-admit nursing home order. Now, he's being criminally referred to the Department of Justice by the House Oversight Committee.
