The Shelby Star is a local newspaper located in Shelby, North Carolina. It was previously owned by Freedom Communications until 2012, when Freedom sold its newspapers in Florida and North Carolina to Halifax Media Group. In 2015, Halifax Media Group was purchased by New Media Investment Group.
