The first recipient of a shipment of torpedo bats on the team, Oliver Dunn will have to try them out at Class AAA Nashville. The Milwaukee Brewers optioned the scuffling third baseman to the minor leagues during the off-day Thursday. Through 41 plate appearances, Dunn is batting .167 with a .205 on-base percentage and slugging .222 as part of an underwhelming third-base platoon with Vinny Capra. A corresponding move will be announced Friday.

Donald J. Dalberg, 48, was found guilty of 15 felonies, including first-degree intentional homicide, in the death of Floyd A. Burdick. Burdick was shot three times in the head and his body was burned. Dalberg's codefendant, Crystal C. Teumer, faces charges related to the corpse mutilation and arson. Dalberg's sentencing is scheduled for May 23 and he faces a mandatory life sentence.
