Sportstar launched as a weekly multi-sport magazine exclusively in print on July 15, 1978. This beloved publication is part of The Hindu group, which has a long-standing passion for sports and has been supporting various athletic endeavors for over a century within the sports sections of its main publication, The Hindu newspaper. The Hindu's initial venture into the world of sports magazines was with Sport and Pastime, which also included elements of cinema and enjoyable short stories. This magazine started in 1947 and continued for 21 years.
