St. Louis American
The St. Louis American is a weekly publication that caters to the African-American community in St. Louis, Missouri. It was first published in March 1928. In 1930, the newspaper launched a campaign called "Buy Where You Can Work." In 1981, Donald Suggs and two other investors acquired most of the shares of the newspaper, and by 1984, Suggs became the main stockholder and publisher.
