LAWRENCEBURG – Veteran head coach Brent Aldridge knows his has the horses to make another strong run at the Eighth Region softball title. But, as a coach, there are always concerns. Still, the first mission will be to win the 30th District tournament to be contested next week at Shelby County High School. The Lady Bearcats will open their defense of the district title against the play-in winner, either Shelby County or Anderson County, in the semifinals on Monday at Shelby County High.

After a recent competition, a cattle working team from Henry County High School is now the reigning state champion. Jason Ray, Jake Crabb and Wade Moore took home first-place in the Kentucky Junior Cattlemen’s Association Cattle Handling Contest on May 2, held in Hardin County. Ag teacher and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Advisor Lindsey Davie said it wasn’t really a surprise. Last year, the first year the competition was held, the team came in second, so they had their sights on winning.

LAWRENCEBURG — Local residents and members of Ninevah Christian Church gathered on May 1 at the Anderson County Courthouse to observe the annual National Day of Prayer, joining others across the nation in a day of reflection and unity. The event followed a proclamation by President Donald Trump, who officially designated May 1, 2025, as a National Day of Prayer.

LOUISVILLE – Several area golfers had success during the latest stop on the Bluegrass Golf Tour. Quail Chase Golf Course in southern Jefferson County was the host. In the boys 16-18 division, CJ Campbell of Mount Washington finished in a tie for third place. He finished with a six-over 78. Jack Ballerstedt of Prospect was tied for sixth with his round of 80. Isaac Lewis of Taylorsville and John Greer of Goshen tied for ninth place with 10-over finish of 82.
