Year after year, leaf after leaf, autumn paints over summer’s green landscape with shades of red, orange, yellow, purple and everything in between. The colorful scenery serves as an emblem of the fall season, but the changes we watch take over the treeline are grounded in biology. The oranges, reds and yellows we see in the season do not appear out of the blue. They are hidden away in the leaf all year round by the green mask produced by a vital chemical called chlorophyll.

State Senator Sarah McBride, joined by moderator and former CNN Global Correspondent Ralph Begleiter, hit the debate stage at Mitchell Hall on Oct. 16.
