The size of pig letters continues to grow, and researchers believe that trend will continue. U.S. producers averaged 15 pigs born live in 2024. That is a big number until you look at Danish numbers that are reaching nearly 20. Rafe Rayell, an Extension swine specialist with South Dakota State University, says while litter sizes may be able to grow, focus needs to be on numbers of pigs weaned and keeping sows in the herd longer.
