The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers watched an early 3-0 lead over the Beloit Sky Carp evaporate on Tuesday night at Neuroscience Group Field. The Sky Carp scored seventeen unanswered runs and went 9-for-21 with runners in scoring position as they took advantage of thirteen walks by Wisconsin pitchers to beat the Rattlers 17-3 in game one of the six-game series. Jadher Areinamo started Wisconsin’s first-inning rally with by drawing a walk after falling behind Beloit starter Emmett Olson 0-2.

The Peoria Chiefs took an early lead, built on it, and held off a late charge by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Saturday night at Dozer Park. Wisconsin trailed 7-1 after six innings on Saturday and got to within 7-5 with the tying runs in scoring position in the seventh. However, they could not make up the difference and fell for the second game in a row to the Chiefs, who added late insurance runs on a Wisconsin miscue.

Two of the three teams in action on Thursday earned wins ahead of a busy end of the week for all of the local squads. Scores from Thursday include Southern Door beat Crivitz 10-0, Algoma fall Bay Port 4-1, and Luxemburg-Casco beat Wrightstown 10-5.

The Wisconsin Legislature will now begin crafting its version of the state budget after the Joint Finance Committee voted 10-3 to remove more than 600 items from the previous version presented by Governor Tony Evers earlier this year. The 21-page list included renewed bids to expand Medicaid, legalize marijuana, introduce paid family leave, and increase child care subsidies.

Do not be shocked if you see fire danger levels increase over the next week in Door and Kewaunee counties, as of Friday morning. Over 30 counties, including Door and Kewaunee, are in moderate danger for fire after rainstorms last week greened things up. Six counties in west central Wisconsin have a high fire danger level, with the remainder at a very high fire danger level.
