The Siting Council was scheduled to reopen the docket regarding the Gravel Pit Solar expansion Thursday.

WEST HARTFORD - Pool tables and jukeboxes are now officially allowed in West Hartford restaurants after the Town Council adopted a revised ordinance Tuesday. For decades, the two amusement devices were technically outlawed in town restaurants because of an outdated ordinance. In January, the town announced it would look at changing those restrictions after hearing from several business owners.

ENFIELD - Despite two previous failed attempts to codify the town's current flag ordinance in the charter, members of the Charter Revision Commission will once again debate the issue as they try to determine whether the potential for lawsuits outweighs a lack of inclusion. Earlier this month, members of the Town Council reached a consensus to revisit the flag debate as well as to further discuss the threshold in which a budget increase would go to referendum.

WEST HAVEN - A New Haven man and two others were arrested in a drug investigation that turned up more than $20,000 worth of crack cocaine at an Econo Lodge Motel, police said. Alexander Vargas, 51, is facing numerous charges including six counts of possession of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory, possession with intent to sell more than a half ounce of cocaine after he was arrested Tuesday afternoon, West Haven police Sgt. Scott Allard said in a news release Wednesday.

BRIDGEPORT - A Waterbury man was sentenced Wednesday to more than eight years in prison - 97 months - for his involvement in a 2023 carjacking and a narcotics trafficking ring, federal officials said. Luis Cruz, also called "Goldo," 27, was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut David Sullivan said in a news release.
