June 05, 2025 President Donald Trump signed a new executive order Wednesday night banning people from a dozen countries from entering the United States. Haiti is one of the countries on the list. Brockton resident Teddy Mombrun immigrated from Haiti in 2020. The former physician said he has family who would want to come to the United States, but he believes they won’t be able to after the travel ban.

June 05, 2025 The 18-year-old Milford High School student detained by federal immigration authorities on Saturday is set to be released. Immigration judge Jenny Beverly granted Marcelo Gomes Da Silva’s release in a Thursday hearing. Beverly set the bail amount for $2,000, and Gomes Da Silva’s attorney Robin Nice told GBH News that his family was set to pay it. Nice said it’s unlikely Gomes Da Silva will be detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement again while on bond.
