The CHA has posted a new call for developers interested in the vacant property at Clybourn Avenue and Larrabee Street, after initial investors backed out. Residents are now moving into Straits Row, a new residential tower in Printers Row that transformed a vacant lot into an 18-story apartment building. The property is more than 4% leased, with its first tenants moving in around early March. The 132-unit building is currently about an additional 5% pre-leased for fall move-ins.

Two new affordable apartment buildings are now open in Auburn Gresham, as part of a larger citywide strategy to bring more development to Chicago’s South and West sides. City officials and project partners celebrated the opening of the Auburn Gresham Apartments on Wednesday, after nearly three years of work on a project that replaced vacant city-owned land.

Developer Sterling Bay is turning over a portion of its $6 billion Lincoln Yards project to one of its lenders, further stalling the megadevelopment that’s struggled to build momentum since its 2019 approval. Sterling Bay CEO Andy Gloor told investors in a letter last week that it would transfer the northern end of the 53-acre Lincoln Yards project to Bank OZK, based in Little Rock, Arkansas.

City officials and development partners on Thursday marked the start of their efforts to convert four Loop office buildings into apartments, an effort to create a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood after the pandemic hiked office vacancy levels. A groundbreaking was held for 79 W. Monroe, the first office-to-residential conversion to break ground under the city’s La Salle Street Corridor Revitalization initiative.
