Gusty conditions blow into the region starting today with gusts expected to reach 30-40 mph in portions on Imperial County this evening. Oncethis system exits, a quick warmup back to near and above seasonal temperatures is expected to start the new week.

After reaching triple digits and melting away local records, this week brings noticeable changes. a weather disturbance settles in to our area mid-week and brings with it a dip in local temperatures. Look for local temps to slide below our normal average. This system may also result in slight chances for light rain on Friday and Saturday.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Lots of people in Southern California felt Monday's 5.2 earthquake, and animals did too. Footage captured by the San Diego Zoo Safari Park shows the elephant herd reacting to the earthquake. Once the quake started, the herd started running. Shortly after, the animals form what experts call an "alert circle." They say it's a natural response to perceived threats to protect the herd. The zoo says the elephants are now back to their normal routine.
