Taxi operator ABC Taxis has rebranded to Veezu (Image: Richard Jarmy) Norfolk’s largest taxi operator ABC Taxis has rebranded to Veezu. Norwich firm ABC Taxis, founded in 1994, was acquired by Veezu Group in 2022. The Welsh-based company is the UK's fastest-growing taxi and private hire technology business, with more than 16,000 drivers. ABC has grown since joining the group, completing one booking every 20 seconds in 2024 after one every 22 seconds in 2023.

Waitrose, Aldi and Roys have all objected to proposals for a Lidl store in Bowthorpe. The plans involve demolishing the Namco Funscape bowling alley in Barnard Road to make way for a new branch of the German budget supermarket. Roys of Bowthorpe, which is a ten-minute drive away from the site, said the “potential retail impact” of the Lidl store has been “significantly underestimated”.

The Ribs of Beef in Wensum Street has been taken over by Punch Pubs & Co - a pub group based in Burton which owns around 1,250 venues across the UK. Couple Roger and Anthea Cawdron had been at the helm of the pub on the banks of the River Wensum for more than four decades.
