Getting rid of B.C.’s provincial sales tax on machinery and equipment (M&E) purchases could boost investment by 17 per cent – or about $1.6 billion.
That’s according to a Tuesday report by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) that pointed to a drop in M&E investment as a share of B.C.’s economy, from 3.9 per cent in 2013 to 3.5 per cent in 2023.

Container traffic at the Port of Vancouver will soon begin to ramp up.
DB World Ltd., the logistics firm operating the Centennial Terminal (Centerm) at the Port of Vancouver, announced a new partnership with the Gemini Cooperation on Monday.
The new partnership will begin rolling out next month.
Along with recent upgrades to the port, the new partnership will increase the volume of cargo that is loaded and unloaded at the Vancouver terminal.
