A key activist and campaigner during the strike, Anne Harper married Arthur Scargill in 1961, but the couple divorced in 2001. Born and raised in Barnsley, she was a co-founder of the Women Against Pit Closures movement following the mass pit colliery shutdowns by Margaret Thatcher's government in the 1980s.

British Transport Police said the incident had taken place in the underpass at York railway station on 29 March. The force said the girl had been approached by a male who spoke to her briefly before assaulting her. Anyone who recognises the man or has information about the incident is asked to contact police.

Just one month after he was released from prison in March 2020, Nathaniel Hollywood, 39, began to broker the sale of multiple firearms to other criminal associates. The weapons he offered for sale included AK-47 assault rifles and Skorpion and Uzi sub-machine guns.
